Special Education: Response to Intervention K-12 (M.S. Ed)
Saint Joseph's University is proud to offer an online master's program in Special Education based upon Response to Intervention (RTI) leading to a Master of Science in Education degree.
Our Special Education program has been created for general educators who:
- Currently hold a Level 1 early childhood or elementary teaching certificate and are seeking to become highly qualified in Special Education (K-12) (reciprocity with 33+ states)
- Are already certified in Special Education and are seeking an advanced degree
- Are seeking a Master's degree in Education based on state-of-the-art, research-based theory and instructional practice for meeting the diverse needs of their student population
The curriculum of the Special Education program is designed to develop and refine competencies in professional educators in order to meet the demands of teaching students with special needs in a variety of school environments, public and private, urban and suburban. Earn a Bonus Educational Certification
Through this innovative program, in addition to a Master's degree in Education, you can earn an additional certification in Special Education that will allow you to tailor your education to fit your personal career goals and aspirations. To enter the certification program, you must currently hold a Level 1 Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education and/or Secondary Education teaching certification. Our Online Special Education Master's Program:
- Builds a thorough base in the foundations, principles, ethics, values, and methods of modern education
- Examines issues of inclusion and least restrictive environment, the effect of socioeconomic background, and the impact of gender and race on learning
- Allows you to earn a Special Education Certification in addition to a recognized and respected Master's degree (for those who qualify)
Wilson Reading System® Specialization
Through the Master’s in Education, you can also specialize in the Wilson Reading System®. Once you complete the Master’s degree, you will also earn your Wilson Reading Certificate based on successful completion of the applicable coursework. The Special Education Program at Saint Joseph's University is the only online degree program that allows you to earn your Master's degree in Education and complete your Wilson Reading System ® Certificate program. Our online Wilson Reading System® Certification provides teachers with the skills needed to help students become fluent, independent readers, using multi-sensory, structured language programs and strategies to teach reading and spelling successfully.
